NEET - Choice Filling

NEET - Choice Filling

What is NEET Choice Filling?

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) choice filling is an essential part of the counseling process, where candidates select and prioritize medical and dental colleges based on their NEET scores. The process varies based on the type of seats available, including All India Quota (AIQ), State Quota (Tamil Nadu), Management Quota (MQ), and seats in Deemed Universities.

Here's a breakdown of the different types of choice filling for NEET

All India Quota (AIQ) Choice Filling

  • What is AIQ? The All India Quota (AIQ) comprises 15% of the total seats in government medical and dental colleges across India. These seats are available to students from any state, allowing candidates to apply for colleges outside their home state.
Choice Filling Process
  • After qualifying NEET, candidates must register on the MCC (Medical Counseling Committee) portal for AIQ counseling.
  • During choice filling, candidates can select and prioritize medical and dental colleges from the available list under AIQ.
  • Choices must be locked within the specified deadline, after which the seat allotment is done based on the candidate's NEET rank, preferences, and seat availability.

Tamil Nadu State Quota (SQ) Choice Filling

  • What is Tamil Nadu State Quota? Tamil Nadu offers 85% of its government medical and dental college seats to candidates who have qualified NEET and are domiciled in the state. This is called the State Quota.
Choice Filling Process
  • Tamil Nadu State Quota counseling is conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME).
  • Eligible candidates must register and participate in the state-level counseling process.
  • During choice filling, candidates can select government colleges and self-financed colleges under the Tamil Nadu state quota based on their NEET rank.

Management Quota (MQ) Choice Filling

  • What is Management Quota? Management Quota (MQ) refers to seats available in private medical and dental colleges, which are reserved for students willing to pay higher fees. These seats are open to both state and out-of-state candidates.
  • Choice Filling Process
  • Candidates must register for MQ counseling through the respective state or college portal (e.g., in Tamil Nadu, private colleges have their own counseling processes).
  • During choice filling, candidates can choose private institutions offering MQ seats based on their NEET rank.
